I have been painting and drawing since before my earliest days at school and by my teens I was exhibiting and selling my work at art shows and galleries.
My first major exhibition was in 1976 at the age of 20 with my mother, Dorothy.
Six weeks later I had a motorcycle accident that put me in a wheelchair and permanently damaged my right arm. After a lengthy hospital visit and rehabilitation I continued with my art and have learned to draw again with my left hand and now I am still busy with my art and teaching, exhibiting and selling my work.
As well as my art, a few other notable achievements:
I have represented Australia with target rifle shooting in the Paralympic Games in England in 1984 and Korea in 1988, I also represented Australia overseas in the FESPIC games in Hong Kong in 1982 and the Stoke Manderville Games in England 1986.
I have travelled to most states of Australia as I represented Victoria in the target shooting.
I have been involved with the setting up and on the board of Australian Quadriplegic Association Victoria, a member of the Barham Koondrook Apex Club for 9 years, an original member of Barham Koondrook Tourist Association (2 years treasurer) and Secretary for four years on the Barham Koondrook Chamber of Commerce (1999 & 2000/’01/’02) and for the last couple of years I have designed and printed the Barham Rock 'n' Roll newsletter.
Thank you for for taking your time to read a little about me and look at my art work,
regards,
Grant.
